You are looking for a therapist who is approachable, relatable, attentive, and actively engaged in session. Someone who will help you make sense of things through a collaborative and judgment-free process.
Whether you are feeling disconnected from yourself and your surroundings, find that anxious thoughts steal the joy from what would otherwise be positive experiences, or if you identify as a motherless mother or daughter, I will hold space for the exploration of your emotional healing and personal growth.
You deserve to feel seen and understood in a safe and inclusive space.
My Approach
-
Discovery together.
I am warm and empathetic, and direct when needed. I will sometimes invite you to see things from different view points. In this way, you can make sense of behavior and thinking patterns that no longer serve you by illuminating where they may have started in your past.
-
INVESTED IN YOU.
I’m not afraid to talk about anything you need to explore and I like using humor to build connection. I want you to get results from the investment you’re making in yourself through our time together, rather than feeling like you’re talking in circles and getting nowhere.
-
WITH COMPASSION AND CARE.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and personalized to your specific needs. It is rooted in attachment theory and psychodynamic therapy to promote the growth of self-compassion and insight. I incorporate my training in evidence-based practices, such as Interpersonal Therapy, to give you concrete tools to connect your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
ABOUT MICHELLE
My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by my own personal experiences, as well as interests in human behavior, attachment theory, and social justice. I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and worked with neurodivergent children and youth for many years before I received my Master in Social Work Degree from California State University, Los Angeles. I trained as a therapist in the Alhambra Unified School District and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, before taking on a position as a psychiatric social worker within the same department.
My nearly 6 years of experience working in community mental health have strongly influenced my therapeutic lens. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, committed to working from an antiracist lens, and deeply value inclusivity of all kinds. I have been fortunate enough to serve a socioculturally diverse population, including adults living with severe and persistent mental illness, undocumented individuals, survivors of trauma, LGBTQ+ folks, and differently abled children and adolescents.
Nuestras sesiones se pueden llevar a cabo en Español ya que es una de mis lenguas maternas.
I look forward to hearing your story and helping you find the tools tO explore your feelings.
